A New York School of Printing archive with approximately 115 photographs of young men learning the ABCs of the trade in classroom settings and as apprentices in the field.
With photographs of students in an analog darkoom preparing images for reproduction; instructors demonstrating how to use silk screens, gouge or detail plates, operate two color printing presses and linotypes, web presswork, and handle binding presses; as well as finished products. Silver prints, the images measuring 3¾x4¼ to 7½x9½ inches (9.5x10.8 to 19x24.1 cm.), and the reverse, several with handwritten caption labels or notations, in ink, and/or hand stamps, on verso.
