A group of approximately 100 news photographs by various photographers associated with this progressive and pictorial newspaper, including 2 by Margaret Bourke-White.
With a host of prints credited to Bernie Aumuller, Gene Badger, William Blanche, Irving Haberman, Martin Harris, and others that celebrated the diversity of New Yorkers. With many humorous images of daily life throughout the boroughs in addition to depictions of political strikes, Harlem church goers, jitterbuggers, war-related events, fires, criminals, and workers of all stripes, especially women. Silver and ferrotyped silver prints, the images measuring approximately 8½x6¾ inches (21.6x17.1 cm.), and the reverse, with a contemporary bar code label, hand stamps, and later notations, in pencil, on verso; many with partial newspaper clippings. 1940-48
