(DEATH & DISASTER) A collection of 84 photographs of fires, accidents, and crime, mainly pertaining to events from 1956 in New York City and State.
The set includes about 20 photographs of fires and their aftermath as well as criminals entering or leaving jail, grisly car accidents, scenes of rescue and recovery, and a few train accidents. Most of the dated photographs are from the year 1956 and many are from New York City and upstate New York; also includes some images from the Midwest. Silver prints, the images measuring 11x8½ inches (27.9x21.6 cm.), and smaller, and the reverse, a few with a caption in the negative, and many with a news agency stamp, date stamp, and/or caption label, on verso. 1956
