(WINDOW DISPLAYS--L.L. STEARNS & SONS) Group of more than 135 photographs of window displays featured at the department store L.L. Stearns & Sons in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
A series of whimsical displays featuring home goods and clothing, including garments by some notable designers. The installations feature artfully-posed mannequins, dramatic lighting, and some graphic signage. Silver prints, the images measuring approximately 7¾x9½ inches (19.7x24.1 cm.), and the reverse, the sheets slightly larger, about 35 of the prints with the department store's name and location in the negative or in a hand stamp on verso, and many with a local photo services company's credit in the negative and/or in a hand stamp on verso; some with notations, in pencil, in an unknown hand, on verso; includes 25 duplicate prints. 1950s
