(AFRICAN AMERICANA) A group of more than 55 photographs documenting the theatrical production Take a Giant Step, the first play by a Black playwright, Louis Peterson, that was produced for Broadway.
With images of a young Louis Gossett as the leading character, plus accomplished shots of rehearsals, production scenes, close ups of actors and actresses, and set designs. Silver prints, the images measuring 7½x9½ inches (19.1x24.1 cm.), and the reverse, the sheets slightly larger, with captions identifying the performers and/or numeric notations, in pencil, on verso; with 5 duplicates, a Playbill, and newspaper clippings (reviews). 1953
