A striking group of 55 elegant photographs documenting the detailed and stylish displays of the iconic B. Altman Department Store.
Featuring a number of images that evoke a surrealist sensibility, including a grouping of men's hats perched on tree branches, and a smiling sun illuminating the elegantly dressed mannequins. Also included are various interiors from B. Altman. Silver prints, the images measuring approximately 8x10 inches (20.3x25.4 cm.), many with the store name and photographer's credit in the negative, and most with a photographer's hand stamp on verso. 1940s-50s
