288 •(NEW YORK--AERIAL VIEWS)
A selection of 40 spectacular photographs depicting the metropolis of Manhattan and its surrounding regions.
These stunning photographs, which were created by an accomplished professional associated with the New York Port Authority, depict the overall design of the greatest city in the world. With towering edifices crowding Midtown and Lower Manhattan; radiant waterways (the East and Hudson Rivers and their piers); meticulous grids defining streets and public thoroughfares; and views shot from an even higher elevation that show the city counterpointed against the seemingly endless horizon line of the Atlantic Ocean; plus highways, parks, and bridges. Silver prints, the images measuring 7¾x9½ inches (19.7x24.1 cm.), the sheets slightly larger, several with typewritten caption labels and dates and others with brief notations, in pencil, on verso. 1952-60s
