268A •(CRIME)
Collection of more than 55 forensic photographs depicting the sad and quotidian aftermath of crime, with interior and exterior shots throughout Brooklyn, NY.
With plainspoken professional views of neat but empty bedrooms (one depicting a bullethole through a curtained window, with a policeman's cap placed on a dresser), a chalk diagram drawn on the floor, coats carefully placed on hooks in small living rooms, plates stacked on round kitchen tables, and a few dark city streets and gritty basements. Another print depicts the entrance to a garage, recalling the site of the St. Valentine's Day massacre, and there's a scene of a calamtous train wreck. Silver prints, the images measuring 7x9½ inches (17.8x24.1 cm.), and the reverse, the sheets slightly larger, a few with handwritten notations, in ink, on verso. Circa 1935
