Archive of Gert Baer, the King of Prussia, Pennsylvania-based hair dresser, with 280 photographs depicting a host of stylish hair styles for fasionable women, many of which were apparently inspired by stars of Alfred Hitchcock's films.
With 18 envelopes containing strips of tiny Minox negatives, 3 contact sheets and 4 small boxes of 35mm color slides. Baer, who operated a popular local salon that was a destination for professional young women, also competed in beauty and hairdressing competitions.The archive includes (mostly) head shots of his latest creations, the high or sweeping hairdos associated with the early to mid-1960s, behind the scenes pictures of Baer working and long shots of competitions; with 6 of his tiny address books. Silver prints, the images mostly measuring 3¾x2½ to 6x4½ inches (9.5x6.3 to 15.2x11.4 cm.), the sheets slightly larger. 1962-64
