306 •(PARIS, FRANCE--MAY 1968)
Group of 15 dynamic photographs depicting the student riots throughout Paris in May 1968.
Paris, with its longstanding position as the center of intellectual discourse, had never seen such intense violent, political protest during peacetime. The students, who initially protested the closure of the Nanterre School at the Sorbonne, became allied with labor protests and shutdowns due to decreases in government funding. Ferrotyped silver press prints, the images measuring 8¼x10½ inches (21.5x26.7 cm.), and the reverse, many with lengthy captions, hand stamps, and notations, in pencil and/or ink, on verso. 1968
