291 •(ROCK 'N' ROLL)
A funky album with 249 hoppin' photographs of Rock 'n' Roll musicians such as Frankie Avalon, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, The Skyliners, and Bo Diddley.
Apparently compiled by the New York Radio D.J. and President of the Rock 'n' Roll Club of America (in Brooklyn), Len Leonards, the album features numerous photographs of important musicians during performances and hanging backstage. Len himself makes repeated appearances in the photographs, posing wide-eyed and grinning with a number of the artists. Also present are original flyers, ticket stubs, business cards, and promotional ephemera, each dazzlingly mounted with metallic stars. Many of the pages are dedicated to a single artist or performance and feature a label with typed information including the artist's stage name, real name, birthplace, and top song hits. Chromogenic (240), Polaroid (2), and silver (7) prints, the images measuring 3½x3½ to 8x10 inches (8.9x8.9 to 20.3x25.4 cm.), mounted recto/verso to sleeved paper pages, a few with the artists' signatures and inscriptions to Leonard, on print recto. Large 4to, black leatherette; multi-ring binding. 1950s-70s
