Playful group with 23 photographs, some graphically hand-painted, depicting women partaking in fitness and stretching routines.
The images mostly document "Reduce for Defense" and "Keep Fit for Victory" programs in an effort to promote fitness on the home war front. Including exercises such as floor-stretching, 3-stair climbing, basketball, stooping, extensions, and vibration therapy on the all-American exercise belt. Silver prints, the images measuring approximately 7x9 inches (17.8x22.9 cm.), and the reverse, some with editor's retouching marks on recto, and each with various notations, in pencil, hand stamps, and press clippings on verso.
