298 •(NATURAL ABSTRACTIONS)
A finely considered and beautifully printed group of 50 abstract compositions taken from natural forms by Otto Litzel.
Reminiscent of California school photographers such as Edward Weston and Minor White, Litzel carefully observed how light is reflected in and upon natural textures such as cracked ice, tree bark, wet sand, water ripples, and rock surfaces. Silver prints, the images measuring 5x4 inches (12.7x10.2 cm.), a few with croppping notations, in pencil, on recto, and each with Litzel's hand stamp on verso. 1950s
[1,000/1,500]
Otto Litzel published various titles on the process and art of photography, including one on composition, and another on darkroom printing. Both of these skills are abundantly manifested in this group of photographs.
