Contemporary binder containing 32 dramatic photographs of men and women jumping from high-rise buildings, bridges, and Niagara Falls.
With two Pulitzer Prize-winning photographs, including the 1954 image of the cab of a truck dangling from a bridge while the driver is being rescued (taken in 1953 by amateur photographer Virginia Schau), a scene of a boy (who feared a spanking) being restrained, distressed folks perched precariously on ledges, a band of photographers waiting on the street, heroic rescues, and sad deaths. Ferrotyped silver prints, the images measuring 9½x7½ inches (24.1x19.1 cm.), and the reverse, the sheets slightly larger, many with caption information on verso. 1930s-70s

Both prize-winning photographs in this lot represent the first and second times (1946 & 1954) the Pulitzer Prize was awarded to an amateur, and the latter was the first time a woman photographer secured this honor.
