19 •(BRAZIL) Hermann [Ermano] Kummler (1863-1949)
Folio entitled Ansichten von Pernambuco, with 9 photographs by various photographers (including those compiled by Hermann Kummler and others shot by him). With scenes depicting the municipality, waterfront views, wagons drawn by oxen, and ruins. With 6 by L. Schiappe, and one each by Kummler and Allema/C. Barza, and an uncredited, hand-tinted salted paper print of a laborer. Rounded corner albumen (8) and clipped salted paper (one) prints, the images measuring 4¾x7½ to 8¼x10¼ inches (11.4x19.1 to 21.6x26 cm.), the mounts 6½x9½ to 11x14 inches (16.5x24.1 to 27.9x35.6 cm ), 6 with Schiappe's credit, one with Allema/Barza's, and each with Kummler's hand stamp, handwritten notations and/or printed credit on mounts recto. Folio-sized jacket with flap, gilt-lettered green morocco, edgewear; contents loose as issued. 1888-91
