A group of 18 photographs of colonial Hawaii, with occpationals and topographic views.
Comprising views of hotels in Waikiki and Honolulu, the nautical and forest paths to Kilowea, and the Waiakea river; as well as environmental portraits of Polynesians, depicting people making and eating poi, men with surfboards and diving from cliffs, and women with grass skirts, leis, and ukeleles, in both traditional and colonial dress. Albumen (13) and silver (5) prints, the images measuring 9¼x7 3/8 inches (23.5x18.7 cm.), and smaller, some mounted recto/verso, each with various press agency labels, stamps, and notations, in pencil, on mounts recto and verso, and/or on sheet verso. 1890-1910
WITH--Queen Lili'uokalani carte-de-visite. Albumen print, the image measuring 2¾x1 7/8 inches (7x4.8 cm.), the mount 3¾x2½ inches (9.5x6.4 cm.), with the notation "Queen Kalama [sic]," in ink, on recto, and in pencil, on mount verso. Circa 1895
