34 •(JAPAN) An album with 60 pastoral Japanese scenes. Including samurai in their armor, monks worshipping Buddhist demigod idols, beautiful geishas, lush mountain landscapes, and more. Hand-colored albumen prints, the images measuring 8 1/8 x10¼ inches (20.7x26 cm.), and the reverse, mounted recto/verso, most with a caption in the negative, and some with a handwritten caption on the mount. Oblong 4to, green silk with embroidered details, lightly worn; accordion-fold binding, most loose. Circa 1870-80
