334 •(GRISTEDE BROS. GROCERY--NEW YORK ) A binder with approximately 85 photographs arranged chronologically documenting the history and evolution of the Gristede Bros. supermarket chain.
With images of a young Charles Gristede, one of the founders of the company, and the rest of the family, as well as storefront and interior shots of the first Gristedes location. Also included are photographs of other store locations as the company grew over the years, stocked shelves and displays, the company baseball team, and a variety of product transport vehichles, including numerous horse drawn carts, early trucks, and a salesman's sleigh. Silver (80), printing-out paper (4), and albumen (one) prints, the images ranging in size from 2½x4 to 13x10 inches (6.4x10.2 to 33x25.4 cm.), mounted recto/verso to black pages within sleeves, each page with typed caption labels identifying the subjects and locations.
