(TOKYO, YOKOHAMA, KYOTO, ET AL.) A pair of Japanese albums with fine hand-coloring. Each with 50 photographs, including numerous landscapes as well as some occupational and geisha scenes, temples, Buddha statues, and Mt. Fuji. The landscapes are plentiful, and range from formal and sublime, to natural and intimate. Also with three stunning geisha scenes with a striped background. Hand-colored albumen prints, the images each measuring approximately 7½x9½ inches (19.1x24.1 cm.), and the reverse, slotted into the paper mounts, approximately 40 (total) with a number and caption in the negative, and most with the location or description, in pencil, on mount recto. Oblong 4tos, plain cloth covers with a stitched Japanese binding. 1890s
