The quotation, “To Miss Sophie Vancorbeil,” in French, 4 bars from “Connais-tu le pays” in his Mignon , notated on a hand-drawn stave, with holograph lyrics. 1 / 2 page, 8vo; faint staining at upper and right edges, horizontal fold. The letter, to an unnamed recipient (“My dear friend”), in French, apologizing for not meeting him yesterday, explaining that he had to return home due to a violent headache, and hoping to meet another time. 1 page, 8vo; horizontal folds.
