A superb, dark impression of this very scarce lithograph. According to Delteil, the published edition of 75 was printed in bistre and only a handful of proofs were printed in other colors (including black). Delteil 35. One of approximately only 11 lifetime impressions. Signed, titled and inscribed “no. 4” in pencil, lower margin. A superb, dark impression of this extremely scarce lithograph, with strong contrasts. This is one of several small lithographs representing groups of peasant women resting or working out-of-doors that Pissarro made in the late 1890s. In each of these intimate lithographic scenes he captured the sunlight falling across the figures, the verdant landscape and the billowing clouds in the sky, emulating his paintings from this late period.
