Condition A / A-: minor repaired tears, creases and minor restoration in margins. Pilgrims ascending Sivagiri Hill, in the Palani foothills, towards the Dhandayuthapani, a Muruga temple and the most prominent of the six abodes of Muruga. Several of the pilgrims carry Kavadi, a means by which to convey their offerings to Idumban, who was a devotee of Muruga. Dhurandhar was a painter who also designed travel posters. This is one of at least four images he created for pilgrimage sites along the South Indian Railway network. He also designed posters for the Great Indian Peninsular Railway. [1,500/2,000]
