DAVID KLEIN (1918-2005) 228 c CALIFORNIA / FLY TWA. Circa 1967. 40x25 inches, 101 1 / 2 x63 1 / 2 cm. Condition B+: restored losses, repaired tears and overpainting at edges; creases, abrasions and minor restoration in image. Different from many of Klein’s other posters, this piece reflects less of the dynamism, bright colors and abstract style that marked so much of his work. The only abstraction is the shadowy hint of the trees in the background. A sharp, angular shaft of light slices through the image, illuminating part of the tree and part of the text. Huhne p. 73.
