The interior of the Main Concourse in New York City’s Grand Central Station, looking east. This image, taken from an etching, “revealed a Modernist influence . . . Horter filled the renowned mixing space with sketchily abstract figures, making it pulse with energy as bands of sepia-toned light gave depth to the vast expanse beneath the barrel-vaulted ceiling” (Zega p. 68).
