An early and rare poster for skiing in America. De Lappe was a painter, illustrator and Director of the Artist’s League, in San Francisco, who garnered attention with his 1913 poster for the San Francisco Mechanics Fair . “He came from Santa Rosa to San Francisco and opened offices [in 1906]. His rise in his profession was rapid, his railroad and summer resort posters receiving high commendation, not only in this state, but throughout the east” ( San Francisco Call , August 15, 1913, p. 2).
