Weston wrote in his Daybooks about photographing vegetables on a number of different occasions. In 1930,“A
celery heart becomes heroic—a new field is opening to me—on the horizon I see a microscope!”A year later he
noted,“Another vulva found in my halved artichoke—and very farfetched the likeness.”
