well-preserved impression of this very scarce poster.
The official poster announcing the first venue of the three city Armory Show tour in
NewYork from February 15 to March 15, 1913.
The uprooted pine tree image on the poster (which was the same used for the cover of the
exhibition catalogue, see the following lot) is taken from the Massachusetts, Revolutionary
era battle flag,“proclaiming liberation from the art of the past” (Shapiro 135), and clearly
signifyies another revolution, this time in art.
