A very good, dark impression with strong
contrasts.
This is one of Cantarini’s (1612-1648)
earliest etchings, done soon after he joined
the studio of Guido Reni.The style of the
etching is so close to Reni, in fact, that
scholars have suggested that Reni’s hand
might have been involved in finishing the
plate. Moreover, its authorship has been
erroneously attributed to Reni by many
