Museum, Antwerp, and Bruegel is said to have borrowed some aspects of this complex
composition from the landscapes of Flemish painter Herri met de Bles (1500-1550). Bruegel
produced the drawings for the express purpose of being etched by Lucas and Johannes van
Doetecum and published by Cock—who was the most successful publisher of single sheet
