Pursell designed several posters for the Chicago World’s Fair. This, depicting the three towers of the
Federal Building (representing the branches of government) jutting up into the text, is the most dra-
matic. The bright colors in Pursell’s design may well have been representative of the neon lights that lit
up the fairgrounds at night. Thirty-nine million visitors came to the fair during the two years it was
