Project” in pencil, lower margin.A superb impression of this scarce print, with inky, unwiped edges.
According to Ittmann, Dox Thrash completed 68 prints while working in the WPA between 1937
and 1941.
We have not found another impression of this print at auction in the past 20 years. Other impressions
of this print can be found in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Free Library
of Philadelphia, the St. Louis Art Museum, the Newark Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art
and the Harriet and Harmon Kelly Collection of African American Art, San Antonio. Ittmann 23.
