In 1985,Whitfield Lovell was the recipient of both the Eastman Scholarship to the Skowhegan School
of Painting and Sculpture and a fellowship at the Robert Blackburn PrintmakingWorkshop, where
he created these large linocut and drypoint portraits.Another portrait, the drypoint
Mrs. Jones
, is now
in the collection of the Library of Congress. He also exhibited prints in the 1985 show
Through a
Master Printer: Robert Blackburn and the Printmaking Workshop
at the Bronx Museum of the Arts.
